Addictions
Causes
Stress caused by financial or emotional problems can lead to a person smoking and abusing drugs and alcohol as an escape. If this happens repeatedly, becoming a pattern of behaviour, an addiction can be established, causing the person to crave the substance. Also, if a person has a weakened immune system, they may be suffering from a yeast or fungal infection that causes them to crave sweet foods or alcohol.
Symptoms
Suppressed appetite, insomnia, weight fluctuation, sugar/alcohol cravings, mood swings, extreme anxiety, compulsive behaviour and hallucinations can be signs of addiction. When the person is desperate for their next fix, they may be uncharacteristically aggressive or behave erratically. Blood sugar levels may follow an abnormal pattern and be extreme. Malnutrition often occurs as a result of a lack of appetite, which then contributes towards a weakened immune system, making the person more susceptible to illness. Addictive substances can cause a wide range of health problems ranging from coughs and colds to COPD, cancers and cardiovascular disease.

Other therapies
Smoking addicts can use nicotine patches or nicotine gum to help control their cravings. Rehabilitation programs are used for individuals recovering from severe addictions and many people find it helpful to talk about the problem with a professional therapist. Many addicts need to have a complete change in diet to meet all of their nutritional needs and help to regulate their blood sugar level. Adequate sleep is vital in order to encourage melatonin production. Detoxification can help to remove traces of the addictive substance from a person’s body; this requires withdrawal from the substance, drinking plenty of water and exercising to sweat out toxins. Old habits have to be replaced with new ones by re-training the brain to view the substance as something repulsive rather than something the body needs to survive.
Experiences and case studies
One individual who had been smoking for 30 years and was getting through 40 cigarettes a day, decided to turn to bioresonance. Having had multiple failed attempts to quit they were baffled that after just one bioresonance treatment they no longer experienced cravings to smoke.
