ADHD

Causes

Contributory factors can include inadequate nutrition and severe dehydration as these disturb the digestive system, insulin and blood sugar levels. Stress and blockage that occurs after vaccination can impact strongly on the metabolism, leading to restlessness and difficulties concentrating. A lack of vitamins, namely B-3, B-6 (niacin), biotin, zinc and magnesium, can prevent the body from being able to process essential fatty acids, depriving the body of necessary nutrients. Stress can lead to over production of chemicals called pyrroles which bind to zinc and vitamin B6, causing them to be excreted rather than used by the body. Toxins from substances such as lead, copper, aluminium and zinc as well as additives in food can cause hyperactivity. Children are those most commonly affected by the condition, though adults can also experience it. Research indicates that smoking, drinking and taking drugs during pregnancy can increase the child’s risk of ADHD.

Symptoms

Physiological signs can include digestive issues, eczema, excess mucus, bedwetting and asthma. Behavioural indicators include lack of concentration, destructive behaviour, restlessness, forgetfulness and aggressiveness. Most children with ADHD will have insufficient detoxification in the liver, kidneys, lymphs and intestines.

BICOM® Programs to be Used

The liver will need detoxifying and medications and heavy metals should be removed during treatment.

Other therapies

Medications that increase brain activity and improve attention are commonly used. Avoiding carbonated drinks and drinking plenty of water will replenish the body’s hydration levels. Removing certain foods from the diet that the person is sensitive to or that contain artificial colours, flavours or excessive sugar can alter behaviour for the better. A balanced diet containing plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables is key. Getting plenty of exercise will help to burn off energy and behavioural therapy can help both children and adults.

Experiences and case studies

Jessica Rüther, a naturopath who works with child behavioural difficulties, has had around an 85% success rate with treating AD(H)D with 30 cases. Treatment has taken 2-3 months and has helped the children to concentrate better and to be more motivated, without having to take Ritalin.
