Colds and Flu
Causes
Poor immune system is the most significant cause of all cases of cold and flu. This can be as a result of consuming a diet that contains too many animal-based foods and sugars and not enough vitamin D and iodine, resulting in imbalanced bowel flora. Stress can also deplete reserves of vitamin C, preventing this from being used by the body. A lack of exercise or conversely, a lack of rest are other potential factors. Also, the body may be dehydrated or not adequately detoxified. Sometimes cold-like symptoms may be indicators of an allergy.
Symptoms
Colds: dry, sore or itchy throat, congestion in the upper respiratory tract, sneezing, headaches and a lack of energy and motivation.
Influenza: more severe symptoms, hyperthermia, shivering or shaking, expelling thick mucus from the nose and mouth. Colds may just last a few days, while flu can last for weeks.

Other therapies
Eating lots of raw vegetables and healthy fats such as coconut oil will support the immune system. It is important to drink a suitable volume of water and to take in enough salt. Sufficient sleep is needed even more than usual and exercise should be avoided until the illness has passed. Pain relief medication can help to reduce headaches and fever. Other medications such as antihistamines and throat lozenges may help to suppress symptoms.
Experiences and case studies
A young man had been suffering with a permanent cold, watering eyes and sneezing for months. Due to severe shortness of breath, he also was sometimes having asthma attacks. Antihistamines had helped short term but didn’t provide lasting relief so he was advised to have nasal surgery. To avoid surgery, he tried BICOM® therapy, which revealed he had a dust allergy. This was successfully treated in three sessions, allowing the patient to breathe freely and no longer suffer from itching eyes or asthma attacks.
