Pyroluria – The Puzzling Metabolic Disorder

December 11, 20203 min read

Causes

Pyroluria, or pyrrole disorder, occurs when many chemicals called pyrroles are produced in the body and attach themselves to nutrients such as zinc, manganese and vitamin B-6, preventing these vital substances from being used by the body. In time, this can result in severe deficiencies. This disorder is also referred to as haemopyrollactamuria (HPU).

This condition is caused by a genetic problem with the metabolism of haemoglobin, where pyrroles are created as a waste product that needs to be excreted in the urine. It may also be triggered as a result of oxidative damage, a poor diet or underlying digestive problems. Elevated stress levels or trauma may also contribute towards this condition, due to a disruption to the nitric oxide balance.

Symptoms

This disorder is characterised by vitamin B-6 and zinc deficiencies, therefore the symptoms are similar to those experienced by people who are malnourished. People with pyroluria like to stay in their own routines and tend to isolate themselves from others. Insomnia, fatigue, nausea and constipation may also be issues as well as an increased susceptibility to infection. They may have abdominal pain, irregular menstruation or miscarry.

A lack of vitamin B-6 has been connected with being unable to remember dreams. Vitamin deficiency can also cause a person to have pale and sun-intolerant skin, hair loss, overcrowded teeth and the habit of biting their fingernails. Pyroluria can cause hormonal imbalance, so as well as physical symptoms, patients may have mental symptoms such as poor memory, aggression, and anxiety and may feel emotionally drained.

Other therapies

In addition to proper nutrition, people with pyroluria will need to supplement zinc and vitamin B-6 permanently to avoid a recurrence of symptoms. Periodically, zinc levels can be tested to ensure that copper levels are not being disturbed due to excessive supplementation. Taking probiotics may help to improve microbial balance, therefore helping to correct any digestive problems that may be contributing towards the condition.

Exercise is a vital part of the routine, including weight-lifting and walking outside in the fresh air every day. Drinking around 2 litres of water per day is essential. Wheat and sugar intake should be limited, while the diet includes a range of healthy fats and a variety of different vegetables. Stress levels will need to be controlled, otherwise this can worsen the condition.

Experiences and case studies

Bioresonance treatment has proven to be effective in treating the causes and symptoms of pyroluria including digestive and behavioural problems. 5 young boys between the age of 2 and 6 1/2 were experiencing digestive problems as well as behavioural difficulties as a result of the brain developmental disorder, autism. They were all enrolled on a behavioural program which aimed to improve their communicative and social skills. This was in addition to receiving BICOM® therapy.

After having had 4-6 treatments each, the young patients were no longer suffering from their digestive complaints and were demonstrating improved social skills. Thankfully, the behaviour of all of these boys improved significantly enough for them to either be able to start school in the first place, or to be allowed to remain there.

Another experience shows the efficacy of using the bioresonance method in the case of acquired HPU. A 44-year-old former professional sportsman had struggled with allergies and exhaustion for 20 years after having had a knee operation. This compromised his performance and meant that he felt ill most of the time. It seemed that his surgery had affected haem synthesis and caused him to develop HPU.

The man had 14 bioresonance therapy sessions in total and was left feeling much fitter and able to practice sport regularly again. He also suffered from fewer infections and less exhaustion.
